Privacy in the City

We took out everything but the old roses and planted the back border with layers of Podecarpus, the taller, darker trees and a front border of Pittosporum eugenoides, with the lighter trunks. With the help of an irrigation system and the marina climate, both have grown quickly and thickly. The corner is quiet and serene.
I like looking out into my back garden but, since I live in San Francisco, there are buildings all around me. I need something taller and greener than a fence. It would also be nice to have a private place to sit and look at the roses.
